Appearance: Flonne is a short, flat-chested girl, with long, blonde hair adorned with a red headband that has two, long parts that come off of it, giving the appearance of ribbon bunny ears. She is typically seen wearing a red leotard covered by an open, white mantle with a frilled bottom and red, heart earrings on her pointed ears. Unattached white sleeves that are also frilled at the top and bottom are held in place in the middle of her upper arms by a red ribbon and similar ribbon is found around her neck in the style of a bow that holds a separate collar piece there. On her feet are white dress shoes. Being a fallen angel comes with the addition of a slim, long tail with a spade end like that of a devil’s, small bat-like wings on her back, and red eyes.

Personality: Despite her time spent in the Netherworld, Flonne is still fairly innocent and naïve. She’s held fast to her belief in love and tries to be kind to even the most vile, as she thinks that with some love and patience, anyone can change for the better. Flonne has made it her personal goal to spread love to everyone she can. This loving, kind personality of hers has rightfully earned her the nickname “love freak” from Laharl. In addition to her friendly disposition, she can come off as a ditz and a bit of a fangirl, especially when it comes to the tokusatsu (Japanese live-action films/shows) genre.

Abilities/Strengths: Her main strength lies in her magic abilities. Flonne has great healing power and is best at wielding staff-type weapons, though she can handle bows and guns decently as well. In regards to her attitude, her upbeat nature can be encouraging and her passion and determination, especially when it comes to love, will keep her going.

Weaknesses: Even though she is usually a pacifist, it can be easy to bribe her into helping if one has anything from the tokusatsu genre she loves so much. Her naivety and innocence can lead to her being tricked with little difficulty. Also, honesty comes easy to the girl, even during the moments where it could be dangerous to reveal the truth, such as when she openly admitted that she was an assassin when sent on a mission to the Netherworld. Physically, she is weak and without her magic she is at a significant disadvantage in a fight.

Notable Possessions: Always kept with her is a pendant that, when held, will hurt anyone with a wicked heart. When she was an angel, it allowed her to withstand the Netherworld, though it is no longer needed to serve that purpose.

History: It all starts with Seraph Lamington gives Flonne an important mission: to go to the Netherworld and kill King Krichevskoy. Confused as to why an Angel Trainee such as herself is assigned this task, she sneaks into the Overlord’s castle to carry it out. She is headed off by Laharl, son of the King, and ends up fleeing the scene to escape the demons. Once she is found and defeated in battle, Flonne is shocked when she learns of the king’s death and notices Laharl’s lack of grief over the loss. She then decides to change her mission and follow the prince to learn whether or not demons can love.

She stays by the Prince’s side, trying to open his heart to the concept of love as she convinces him to take mercy on his foes and receives his help when she loses the pendant that was allowing her to stay alive in the Netherworld. Through Etna’s betrayal and Laharl’s success as he takes the throne as the Overlord, Flonne helps the prince despite the consequences she might face if she ever were to return to Celestia.

During her stay with the demons, she is pleased to realize that her appearance has caused Laharl to change somewhat and takes joy in the knowledge that demons aren’t as evil as the angels in Celestia believe. Her friendship with Laharl and Etna cause her to stop worrying so much about what the Seraph might say to her new lifestyle and she is happy with her place in the Netherworld.

After a surprise attack by the Earth Defense Force, which resulted in angels from Celestia appearing to battle in the Netherworld, the party heads to the angels’ plane of existence to find out what is going on. There, they learn that one of the angels, Vulcanus, planned to take over all three worlds and become god. He is defeated and they go on to meet the Seraph. Flonne explains Vulcanus’ plan and everything she learned while traveling in Laharl. The Seraph believes her and accepts the fact that demons can love, but decides that she must be punished for fighting with other angels and turns her into a flower.

An enraged Laharl confronts the Seraph in battle and defeats him, resulting in Flonne being brought back, but as a fallen angel. With immediate danger taken care of and out of the way, they return back to the Netherworld, where Laharl rules as Overlord and Flonne remains his vassal. That is, until Flonne gets drafted into Econtra.
